Emergency Response and Planning

Since Ukraine has a history of flood and mudslide problems, one of ULRMC's main directions is to support local, regional and national government authorities in understanding areas of higher environmental risk. While predicting floods and mudslides is extremely difficult, ULRMC uses sophisticated computer hardware and software to capture and to integrate a wide range of spatial data derived from satellite and aircraft images, existing maps, ground surveys, weather stations, and human observations to forecast consequences of such events.
