April 22, 2004 - ULRMC together with the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, local secondary schools # 28, 155, 169, Kyiv International School, Pechersk International School, New Hope School, the U.S. Government Program Alumni helped clean up Babiy Yar Park (Syretskiy Hai.) This campaign was devoted to the Earth Day which was celebrated on that day.

The Earth Day was founded in 1970 by the Former Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson, USA. The American Heritage Magazine described this event as "one of the most remarkable happenings in the history of democracy," Earth Day made environmental protection a major national issue. This day is considered to be a time to recognize a role of nature in people's lives and to set the new goals for achieving the environmental progress in the future. Earth Day is a time to unite around new actions in protecting the planet. ULRMC made its own small contribution into making our planet cleaner and better!

After the clean-up, the participants of this action enjoyed a small reception at Babiy Yar and were congratulated by the U.S. Embassy representatives on a job well done.
