February 26, 2004 - ULRMC held a second work group meeting of the UNEP-WCMC project "Biodiversity Indicators for National Use (BINU)." The main objective of this meeting was to inform the members of the work group about the most important results achieved from January 2003 until February 2004. The work group members also discussed the plans for the project implementation in 2004 and in the future.

During the meeting the members raised such issues as development of the National Report of Ukraine on the State of Agricultural Ecosystems, use of new remote sensing data, preparation for the national meeting of the BINU project that will take place in April 2004 in Kyiv, and international meeting that would take place in June 2004.

Dr. Vasyl Prydatko, BINU Project Manager, also delivered results on his trip to Malaysia where he participated in the events related to The Seventh Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP7) and had an opportunity to meet with some other representatives of similar projects. Implementation of COP7 recommendations and decisions, related to indicators and indicating, is a priority for the BINU team today as they include indicators for immediate testing and contribute to the achievement of the 2010 target - to do everything possible in order to prevent the biodiversity reduction in the world.
