Shortly after its legal establishment, ULRMC was invited to participate in a commercial
subcontract to update existing Ukrainian transport network data. In support of this effort,
ULRMC acquired 1:500,000 transportation grids for all of Ukraine and 1:200,000
transportation grids of the Kyiv region. Additionally for the Kyiv region,
an IRS (Indian Remote Sensing) satellite image was acquired, vectorized and
used as the base map for the updating process in a GIS environment.

In Figure 2, a more concentrated illustration of the updated transportation network for the Kyiv region is shown. |

Finally, Figure 3 identifies new roadways that have been incorporated into a part of the overall Kyiv city network. |
This subcontract highlights ULRMC's capabilities to combine remote sensing and GIS technologies
for the purpose of generating up-to-date digital maps that can be used by public and private
decision makers as part of feasibility studies for various projects.
