Pursuant to the Decree of the President of Ukraine from February 14, 2006 # 133 and according to the Order of the Secretary of National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDCU), Chairman of Commission on processing and complex decision of questions of state policy realization in sphere of grounds rational use and protection (Commission) of September 5, 2006 # 2 for processing of the proposals concerning creation of the National infrastructure of the geospatial information (NIGI) and optimum technology of development of the automated system state land cadastre conducting introduction, the Working group on the geospatial information and cadastre under the Commission was formed.

Petrochenko Y.À. (vice-president of Commission, the NSDCU Secretary assistant) and Matvienko A. S. (first vice-president of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on state construction, regional policy and local self-government) were appointed co-chairmen of the working group, ULRMC General director Kolodyazhnyy Î.À. was appointed the working group secretary. The structure of working group which constantly replenishes, includes representatives of NSDCU, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the State Committee on Land Resources of Ukraine, the State service for geodesy, cartography and cadastre, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, National space agency of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State border guard service of Ukraine and others.

Among working group's priority measures are specified: the development of the project strategy of the geospatial information infrastructure of Ukraine creation, preparation of the regulations on the National center of the geospatial information project, development of measures on use of the satellite information of the very high resolution for creation of the base map of Ukraine of scale not smaller 1:10 000 according to the EU and NATO requirements, and others.
