August 9-13, 2004 - ULRMC received an award from ESRI for Special Achievement in GIS during the 2004 ESRI International User Conference. Opening the 24th Annual ESRI User Conference, Jack Dangermond, the President and Founder of ESRI, said that it is possible now for many to have a conversation in GIS as "this language of geography is helping to expand an understanding about the world and imagine and create a better future." The conference took place in San Diego, California, USA.

Every year the Special Achievement in GIS award honors an elite group of organizations that have embraced GIS technology to better serve the world. By their extraordinary contributions to the society these companies set new precedents throughout the GIS community. Recipients of the Special Achievement in GIS award are submitted by ESRI staff from thousands of organizations worldwide, then personally reviewed and selected by Jack Dangermond. This year ULRMC was among those honored companies, and we are very proud of our achievement and contributions made into the world and society!
