March 18, 2004 - Within the framework of the ULRMC's 5th anniversary celebration, URLMC conducted a seminar "Altarum/Nansen University Fellowship Program (UFP)", summarizing the program's progress over the last 4 years and informing the potential participants (students and professors) of its opportunities. The seminar was held at the Faculty of Geography of the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv (KNU). The representatives of ULRMC, Altarum Institute, USGS, as well as the representatives of universities, who took or are taking part in the program, attended the seminar.
During the seminar V.F. Los, UFP Project Manager, gave a brief overview of program implementation in Ukraine over the last 4 years. The participants of the seminar also had an opportunity to get acquainted with studies carried out by present UFP participants. O. Konovalenko from KNU gave a presentation on his study "Hydro-Environmental Assessment of River Channels Deformation and Monitoring Concept Development", V. Nochvai from Kyiv-Mohyla Academy presented work on "Study and Forecast of Atmospheric Pollution in Urbanized Territories" and O. Aksem from KNU talked about "Assessment of Mechanisms of Regional Underflooding Development in the South of Ukraine with the Help of Remote Sensing and Assessment on the Basis of GIS".
At the end of the seminar, the participants of the seminar discussed the results of the program and its perspectives.
