February 18, 2004 - ULRMC hosted a seminar on "Results of the First Semester of 2003-2004 Academic Year Altarum/Nansen University Fellowship Program (UFP)" which featured presentations by UFP Student Fellows. This year UFP program gathered together 6 Student Fellows, 4 of which are Ph.D. candidates, 1 - Master's Degree candidate and 1 - Bachelor's Degree candidate. In 2003-2004, the UFP program has been funded by Altarum Institute and ULRMC jointly.
The presentations made by M. Kolomytsev (National Technical University "KPI"), V. Nochvai (Kyiv-Mohyla Academy), O. Aksem (Taras Shevchenko National University), A. Kozlova (Kyiv-Mohyla Academy) and G. Kolomiytsev (Taras Shevchenko National University) showed that work completed for today corresponds to the work plan. According to presentations' results, all Student Fellows have been accepted for UFP continuation.
UFP Student Fellows will start their second semester in February and will work towards successful completion of their theses with ULRMC technical specialists' support.
UFP aims to provide financial, infrastructure and intellectual support to Ukrainian students pursuing advanced degrees in the application of satellite remote sensing (R/S), geographic information systems (GIS), digital mapping, and other advanced information technologies to environmental and natural resources management issues in Ukraine.
