May 25-30, 2003 - ULRMC representatives participated in the Sixth International Conference "Geoinformation Technologies in Territorial Development Management" that took place in Yalta, Crimea.

The conference was an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences about geoinformation systems and information technology, to discuss implementation of internationally recognized approaches and standards, and to integrate efforts in areas of prospective GIS projects.

The Conference was organized by the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, ECOMM, Tavria National University of V.I. Vernadskiy, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Chornobyl Affairs of Ukraine and the State Committee of Ukraine on Land Resources. It was financially supported by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), Trimble Navigation LTD, ULRMC, Altarum Institute and Hewlett-Packard Ukraine. In addition to sponsorship, ULRMC prepared four articles and gave four presentations during the conference. Two ULRMC UFP Student Fellows, V. Nochvai and M. Myhailovska, also participated in the conference and gave their presentations on "GIS Use in Modeling Concentrations of Ground Ozone" and "Evaluation Method for Forests State Using Satellite Images," respectively.

During the conference ULRMC had very good discussions with Space Imaging Eurasia, RIVM, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ECOMM, Tavria National University of V.I. Vernadskiy, the Institute of Advanced Technologies and other organizations concerning future partnerships and collaborations.
